The South Australian Government has given approval to Centrex Metals to mine iron ore on the Eyre Peninsula.
The company's Program for Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation has been ticked off for Centrex's wholly owned Wilgerup hematite deposit, south east of Lock.
Mr Jim White MD said that it's a significant step in the process and shows Centrex is committed to protecting the environment before, during and after mining in the area.
Mr White said that "The approval process has a very, very large component of environmental management and environmental responsibility and community responsibility, as well as how the mine would be operated, what criteria must be met, both when it's operational and afterwards."
