Fortescue Metals Group Ltd resumed operations at two of its Pilbara mines after flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Heidi prompted Australia’s third biggest iron ore producer to suspend work on January 13.
Ms Elisabeth Gosch a company spokeswoman said “We have resumed mining at Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek on January 12”
She declined to specify any impact on production.
Work was halted at Cloudbreak, which produces 40 million tonnes a year of the steelmaking material and Christmas Creek, with output of 15 million tons a year, after Heidi crossed the coast east of Port Hedland as a tropical low on January 12.
