Arch Coal Inc said that it's been cited for serious safety violations at two of its underground mines.

Arch Coal in a regulatory filing said that the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration issued one citation for an imminent danger to its Cumberland River Coal Co subsidiary. Arch said that the citation alleges that a contractor was operating trucks unsafely on a road at Cumberland's Pine Branch No 1 mine in Wise County.

Arch said that MSHA cited its Canyon Fuel Co subsidiary for an improperly grounded pipe at its Dugout Canyon mine in Utah.
