It is reported that Australian engineering services group WorleyParsons will manage the pre feasibility study for Flinders Mines' Pilbara iron ore project in Western Australia.
Flinders Mines said WorleyParsons had been chosen after a two month review process and was expected to begin site investigations during the current quarter, with the completed pre feasibility study due for submission by the end of June next year.
Mr Kevin Wills MD of Flinders Mines said “The study will cover the entire ‘mine to ship’ prospects of our Pilbara project and have key study teams in place with site investigations scheduled to proceed later this quarter.”
He said that “Their work over the next eight months will cover everything from mine and infrastructure development to environmental and safety considerations, permitting and approvals, marketing, financial modeling and the establishment of an integrated management team for the project.”
The pre feasibility study will progress on the basis of the scoping study completed by Flinders Mines in July and is expected to be completed in June next year.
The bankable feasibility study is scheduled to commence in the Q3 of 2010.
