Emerging Australian iron ore producer Flinders Mines Limited has announced that its 2010 drilling campaign commenced on April 23 at the company's Pilbara iron ore project in Western Australia.

A minimum of 700 drill holes has been planned for 35,000 m, although the final number will depend on initial results and the number of areas requiring indicated status drilling.

The company's Pilbara resource being considered in the current pre feasibility study undertaken by Australian resources and energy company Worley Parsons is focused mainly on the Delta deposit.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, the latest indicated and inferred resource reserve level at the mine in question is 187.1 million tonne at 56.5% iron content, with a global reserve level of 550 million tonne at 55.6% iron content.
