A former Queensland miner is suing for nearly AUD 2 million after losing his leg in a mining accident.
The man, who lodged a claim said another miner had driven over his leg with an LHD while working at Caledon Coal's Cook Colliery near Blackwater in 2008.
According to The Morning Bulletin, his injuries, since the removal of his lower right leg, include phantom pains, and have restricted his future employment possibilities.
The injured former miner has undertaken legal action against the miner's owner, Caledon Resources, the man who injured him and the contractor he worked for, as well as the company which carried out supervision onsite Inseam Mining.
He is claiming negligence against all of the plaintiffs in his claims, and focuses on the miner operator for failing to provide proper safety training, and the LHD vehicle's driver who it is claimed drove recklessly and provided no warning.
In the claim, it also said that the site of the accident was poorly lit and the LHD had no reversing or change of direction alarm.
