
PTI quoted a GMDC official as saying that the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation has entered into 14 agreements worth INR 8,750 crore with different companies in the recently held Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2009.
The MoUs inked in the summit is for various projects like coal washery plants, silica sand beneficiation, fluorospar beneficiation and exploitation plants, integrated coke oven plants, specialty aluminium chemicals and a cement plant.
As per report, 1 MoU has been signed with Rachna Global LDA for coal mining in Mozambique, while Jaypee group has signed an MoU for setting up a cement plant in Kutch.
Adani Enterprise and Aryan Coal Beneficiation Pvt Ltd have signed MoUs for coal washery units, while 4 companies, including Sun Flag Iron and Steel Co Ltd, BLA Coke Pvt Ltd, Saurashtra Fuels Ltd and Hindustan Dorr Oliver Ltd have signed MoUs for integrated coke oven plants with GMDC.
Moreover, for silica sand beneficiation plant Asahi India Glass Ltd has signed an MoU, while Gujarat Fluorochemicals and Navin Fluorine International have shown interest in fluorospar beneficiation and have signed MoUs for setting up plants.
According to a senior official in the GMDC, basic details are being worked out currently so that implementation of these projects can begin. He added that by 2010, GMDC in JV with Jaypee group will set up a cement plant having capacity of 2.4 million tonne per annum, with an investment of INR 1,050 crore in Kutch.
