It is reported that Gindalbie Metals Ltd, planning an iron ore project with China’s Anshan Iron and Steel Group in Australia, won state government environmental approval.
Perth based Gindalbie said in a statement to the Australian stock exchange announced that development of the Karara project in Western Australia’s mid west region will start in the December quarter once the company receives federal government approval.
Direct-shipping grade iron ore production from Karara may start at the end of 2010, followed by lower grade magnetite production in 2011, it said in July. The mine may produce about 30 million tonnes of magnetite ore a year for 35 years
Gindalbie and Anshan agreed in September 2007 to invest AUD 1.8 billion to develop Karara and Mungada Ridge.
