
Mr Sriprakash Jaiswal minister of state (Independent Charge) for coal, statistics and program implementation said that the centre would ensure sufficient coal supply to power projects in Rajasthan.
Mr Jaiswal during interaction with the media after meeting with Rajasthan chief minister said that “Rajasthan Government has demanded coal linkages to meet the shortage of coal for its proposed three power projects and we will fulfill the demand.”
He added that the two projects with a combined capacity of 2640 MW will come up at Suratgarh and Chhabra under the public sector. The third one is proposed at tribal-dominated Banswara under the private sector.
Mr Gehlot said that the state at present faces a shortage of 600000 tonne of coal per annum for its existing power stations. The present coal linkages allocated by CEA for existing units of Kota TPS and Suratgarh TPS is 6000000 tonne and 6600000 tonne respectively for the year 2009-10. The State Government is also importing coal upto 800000 tonne.
