
A 25 million tonne per year coal storage and distribution centre is expected to be built in central China’s Chongqing by 2015, handling coal transported from Xinjiang via railway lines Lanxin and Lanyu, to be built by 2014, capable of delivering 50 million tonne per year cargoes.
Guodian and local investor Chongqing Energy Investment signed the framework cooperation deal in 2010 for the CNY 2.24 billion project, with Guodian channeling CNY 1.1 billion. Initial preparatory work has started.
According to forecasts, Chongqing is expected to consume 70.63 million tonne per year by 2015, but local output will be just 50 million tonne per year with 20.63 million tonne to be imported.
