It is reported that China Huaneng Group has begun construction on a new coal mining area in Gansu province.

China Huaneng Group has invested CNY 10.8 billion to develop coal mines in the area, with proven reserves of 1.82 billion tonnes. The annual capacity of the coal mining area is expected to hit 10.90 million tons by 2012.

China Huaneng Group is China largest power generation company in terms of installed capital.
