ABC reported that a legally blind Hunter Valley farmer has lost his fight to stop a mining company from drilling on his property and drilling rigs will be rolling onto Ian Moore's property before Christmas after a Land and Environment Court decision went in favour of mining company NuCoal.

Mr Moore took the company to court after losing an arbitration battle but Justice Peter Biscoe ruled again in favor of the company.

Mr Moore says his land is sacred, he has nothing without it and he is desperate to stop NuCoal moving in

He said “It means the world to me. I lost my father when I was very young, I found it very difficult. I can't read books or papers or watch TV, would be a very boring life wouldn't it. "I think should have a right to fight what I believe in, this is Australia supposedly. My wife and I own the land, surely we must have some rights.”

NuCoal says it already has access agreements with more than 20 other landholders.
