Iluka Resources will restart mining at its Eneabba project and is kickstarting its synthetic rutile kiln 3 for a commercial campaign.
Mr David Robb MD of Iluka Resources stated that “The resumption of mining activities at Eneabba represents an example of Iluka’s ability to respond to supply constrained high grade titanium dioxide and zircon markets. The reactivation of mining operations reflects strong demand for titanium and zircon products.”
The project has been idle since 2010 due to declining grades and low margins.
Restarting synthetic rutile kiln 3 will also create significant value for the miner.
Mining will resume at Eneabba by the end of this year, with processing operations carried out at the Narngulu mineral separation plant from the first quarter of 2012.
