MetalBiz reported that steel mills in India, China and other countries turned their eyes to Mongolia and Afghan with ample raw material reserves.

It is understood that Indian JSW and Mesco showed much enthusiasm to the iron ore exploiting project in Mongolia and the former had set up the branch office in the local. Last month, 5 Indian steel mills, 1 China’s steel mill and 1 Pakistan steel mill bid for the iron ore exploiting project with largest reserves in Afghan.

The five Indian steel mills are SesaGoa, Ispat Group, JSW, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam and Essar Steel.

Afghan Hajigak ore is in 130 kilometers of Kabul and the high quality iron ore content is estimated to reach 1.8 billion tonnes.
