BL reported that a day after the Andhra Pradesh government sought an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into allegations of irregularities in iron ore mining in Anantapur district, the opposition congress in Karnataka demanded that Chief Minister Mr BS Yeddyurappa immediately drop the three Ministers from Bellary Mr G Karunakara Reddy, Mr G Janardhan Reddy and Mr B Sriramulu from the cabinet to ensure a free and fair investigation.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Mr Siddaramaiah claimed that there was a clear case of involvement of the Reddy brothers in illegal mining in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and only the CBI would be able to unearth the truth.

He told that “Since the mining operations of the company involved two states, the state government should order the CBI probe for a comprehensive inquiry. Since the Reddy brothers have to appear before the CBI to provide all evidences, it was better for the government to drop them from the cabinet to ensure a fair probe.”

He also demanded suspension of the Bellary Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police, the Deputy Director of Mining, the tahsildar and the police inspector for allegedly abetting illegal mining.
