It is reported that the Jharkhand Cabinet has reaffirmed its decision to allow the sale of iron ore fines from captive mines allocated to companies nearly four weeks after a ban was imposed on the sale of fines following protests in the State Assembly.
The Cabinet which met on Wednesday evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Arjun Munda reviewed the decision and stuck to its earlier position allowing the one-time, time-bound sale of fines.
Iron ore fines are created following crushing and processing of iron ore and could be used by companies having state-of-the-art technology.
In the face of Opposition protests during the recent Monsoon Session, Mr Munda had on September 2 informed the Assembly that the sale of ‘fines' would be stopped till the Cabinet reviewed its decision allowing the sale of iron ore fines up to the size of 10 mm within the country.
Mr Munda further said the decision to allow the sale of iron ore fines to other states was taken to prevent pollution and was in line with the Indian Mines Bureau rules.
