
Mr BS Yeddyurappa Chief Minister of Karnataka who over the past week conceded to most of the demands put forth by the Bellary Ministers is yet to take a final call on the decision to levy toll on trucks carrying iron ore, sand and granite.
Mr Yeddyurappa told presspersons that the matter relating to levying toll is still under discussion. We have also not decided on a new taxation system to raise resources for the rehabilitation works in the flood-affected districts of north Karnataka.”
The State Cabinet has approved the decision to collect toll from trucks carrying heavy minerals and, as per the proposal, the money thus generated will be utilised for better upkeep of the State highways.
