
Japanese coal imports in June down by 2pct
According to Japan’s ministry of finance, Japan imported 14.17 million tonne of coal in June, down 2% YoY.
Thermal coal imports accounted for 8.2 million tonne up 7% from the previous month. The Queensland Resources Council has said Australian exports of hard coking and thermal coal to Japan are expected to be down 5 million tonne by the end of 2011-12, due to the March 11 earthquake and Tsunami.
