It is reported that Thermal power generators in Jiangsu and Hunan are still suffering losses due to higher coal costs. The average inventory of these generators is sufficient for the required minimum of 10 days’ worth of coal while the national average power coal inventory is over 60 million tons at present. That amount is enough for 17 days of power generation.
According to data from cqcoal.com the coal turnover price at Qinhuangdao Port has risen for 12 straight weeks while the price offered by power generators has risen for eight straight weeks. Inbound coal transport volume of Qinhuangdao Port has fallen for three straight weeks while outbound volume has increased.
The port, named after the easternmost city of Hebei province, faces the Bohai Sea and is China largest coal shipping port.
