According to official from Jiangxi, through exploration and analysis, Jiangxi Province still has 41 coal reserve areas which cover 4852 square kilometers are not developed.
The potential coal resources are hidden within the vertical depth of 1,500 meters and amount to 4.893 billion tonnes, out of which, class I and II resources are 4.102 billion tonnes, and class III resource is 581 million tonnes.
As per report, Jiangxi Province holds two major coal bearing strata which are spread among Pingxiang, Fengcheng and Leping area. The current explored area is less than 1400 square kilometers accounting for one sixth of the total area of coal-bearing strata and 80% of local basic geological work level is low.
Experts suggest that Jiangxi province should explore more areas in searching for coal reserves, areas like under the red rocks, faults and other geological structures, increase investments and innovation in coal exploration system, motivate units’ enthusiasm and improve information technology usage level in searching for new coal reserves.
