Steel Orbis reported that after an overall estimation of the underlying coal reserves throughout the province of Jiangxi in the southeast of China, total reserves of 4.67 billion tonnes have been estimated. The figure in question is 588 million tonnes more than the total reserves estimated in the province's third estimation project in 1994.
The estimation project was launched by the Jiangxi Institute of Coal Geology for Exploration and Research, which divided the 5 coal bearing regions in the province into a total of 41 coal districts.
