
According to Mr Duisenbai Turganov Kazakhstan's Deputy Industry and New Technologies Minister, by 2014 Kazakhstan plans to boost its annual coal exports to 32 million tonnes, adding that current coal exports stand at 20 million tonnes to 22 million tonnes.
Mr Turganov said that in order to meet the country needs, coal production is planned to be increased to 123 million tonnes in 2014 from about 100 million tonnes planned this year. In 2009, Kazakhstan coal output amounted to 94.3 million tonnes.
He said that "The total investment in the coal industry will amount to about KZT 235 billion by 2014."
