
The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan is working out an integrated coal sector policy. The setting up of the integrated policy would improve the whole system as well.
According to the report issued by the energy minister, coal production continues to drop down in Kyrgyzstan. So in 1990 this index was at the level 4,5 million tonne of coal, but in 2009 gross coal output fall down to 4,500 tonne,
Management of coal production companies pleaded to the Energy Ministry of Kyrgyzstan to render assistance in backpay of OJSC Electric Stations and SOE Kyrgyzjylkommunsoyuz for coal provided in heat deficit period 2009-2010. Total sum of indebtness composed 56 million soms, whereof 42 million soms is attributed to OJSC Electric Stations.
The reports said that nevertheless fueling for boilers would be provided in the form of tender and priority will be given to local coal producers with a regard to price analysis on Kazakh and Kyrgyz coal.
