
China Mining reported that China has made progresses in building large coal production bases with 13 largest coal production bases approved by the state making up 83% of the national coal output.
Mr Wu Ying chief engineer with the State Energy Administration said, China now has 35 large coalmines each with an annual output of above 10 million tonnes. However, China still has 14,000 small coalmines with an average size of 180,000 tonnes.
Mr Wu noted that China will further improve the coal mining access system and raise the threshold to investment in coalmines.
Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China has a proved coal resource reserve of 31.5 billion tonnes and future reserve of 202.9 billion tonnes ranking 6th and 5th in the country respectively. And Shenhua Ningxia Coal Mining Group is the largest coal enterprise in the region having obtained coal resource reserve of 29.51 billion tonnes accounting for 93.7% of the region's total.
