China Knowledge reported that Henan-based China Zhong Ping Energy Chemical Group Co will team up with the Wuhan municipal government to build a large coal reserve base in the city.

As per report, both parties will invest a total of CNY 800 million in the base which will have a capacity of 5 million tonnes. The establishment of the coal base is to ensure sufficient coal supply in Hubei Province Jiangxi Province and Hunan Province when the fuel is in shortage.

The statement also said that the Chinese government has approved the building of five national coal reserve bases in Central and Southwest China.

China now the world largest coal producer and consumer has about 75% of electricity generated from coal.
