The Board of Directors for Macarthur Coal Limited announced the following executive changes following the acquisition of Macarthur by PEAMCoal Pty Ltd.

Mr Julian Thornton has been named Chief Executive Officer for Macarthur and will serve on the company’s Board of Directors. Previously, Mr Thornton was Managing Director of Peabody Energy Australia. He brings more than a quarter century of international engineering and operations management experience to his new leadership role at Macarthur.

2. Reporting, to Mr Thornton is Mr Steven Hedges who has been named Chief Operating Officer and assumes responsibility for managing the production and development of Macarthur’s assets. Prior to joining Macarthur, Mr Hedges served as the Senior Vice President Operations for Peabody Energy Australia. Mr Hedges brings extensive operational expertise and mine management experience from his three-decade mining career at Peabody Energy, Anglo American Coal and Coal & Allied.
