Maharashtra CM bats for clean tech in coal based power units

While stressing that coal based power generation in the state cannot be ignored despite its pollution impact, Maharashtra chief minister Mr Prithviraj Chavan assured to make mandatory the latest clean coal technology in power generation to minimize emissions in critically polluted areas.

Mr Chavan visited Chandrapur and held a review meeting with administrative officials. While stating that the issue of pollution in Chandrapur shall be resolved on priority basis, Mr Chavan stated that the government is all set to put Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve on the world map. He said that "Relocation of villages outside the tiger reserve and tackling of man animal conflict in this region are on top priority.”

He also said that an additional fund of INR 50 crore from the union government has been approved for rehabilitation of various villages located in forest areas including TATR. A review of all the forest cadres shall be taken by the government in the near future.
