
According to the National Institute of Geography and Statistics, mining activity in Mexico decreased by 4.48%MoM in July compared to the previous month and by 12.9%YoY compared to the same month last year. This drop reverses the upward trend seen in June, when output increased from the previous month by 6.70%.
The accumulated output in the mining sectors from January to July decrease by 11.9%YoY when compared to the same period of time last year.
Mexican coke production in July sharply decreased to 106,589 tonnes or down 20.9% from last year, coal production reached 886,914 tonnes and declined 8.1%YoY compared to July 2008, while iron ore production totaled 599,271 tonnes or fell 4.1%.
National Institute of Geography and Statistics analysis, based on a national survey of construction companies, shows that Mexico construction activity declined in July by 7.1%YoY compared to the same month last year and decreased 1.11%MoM compared to June.
Construction activity from January to July declined 5.9%YoY when compared to last year's levels during the same months.
