Business News Americas reported that Mexico's government will present a new mining bill in the H1 of 2013.
The bill, outlined in President Enrique Peña Nieto's pact for Mexico, is expected to include reforms to concessions and mining rights payments aimed at benefiting local communities.
The pact was signed by the president and leaders of Mexico are other main political parties in December.
The bill will be presented in the H1 of 2013, with the start of implementation planned for the H2 of the year and full implementation expected in the H2 of 2014, according to a calendar of reforms posted on website pactopormexico.org on January 9th Wednesday.
The pact for Mexico also calls for agreements by mining companies to respect the traditions and the social cohesion of local communities, and for a ban on the use of vertical shafts in coal mining to avoid further tragedies.
