Miningmx reported that South African Mr Brian Gilbertson has stepped in to stabilize Jupiter Mines following confirmation of the death of the company's chairman Mr Geoff Wedlock in a plane crash in the Congo at the weekend.
Jupiter Mines said in a statement that Mr Gilbertson had been brought in to ensure corporate stability and continuity for Jupiter over this difficult period.
Mr Gilbertson who also heads up Pallinghurst joined the board as a non executive director and temporarily assumed the position of acting non executive chairman recently.
Mr Gilbertson's steady hand is also needed as the company prepares for an extraordinary general meeting which will be held in August. Jupiter is currently finalizing the acquisition of 49.9% stake in the Tshipi Kalahari Manganese Project in South Africa and shareholders will be asked to vote on the acquisition at the extraordinary general meeting. He was expected to join Jupiter's board following the finalization of the transaction but has now been called in to help steer the ship.
