It is reported that Murchison Metals has secured formal State environmental approval for its Jack Hills iron ore expansion project in the Mid West.
The decision by Environment Minister Bill Marmion follows a favourable recommendation by the Environmental Protection Authority in August last year and a determination in April by the Federal Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities that the project was not a "controlled action".
Since then, Murchison has agreed to sell its 50% interests in the Jack Hills project and associated Oakajee port and rail to Japanese joint venture partner Mitsubishi for USD 325 million.
