NSL Consolidated is advancing towards development of its four thermal coal tenements in the Eromanga Basin in south-west Queensland after the Queensland Government issued a notice of proposed grant of exploration permit for coal for the first of the four tenements.
The company thermal coal holdings are adjacent to East Energy Resources Blackall Coal Project and International Coal South Blackall Project. East Energy Blackall Coal Project has a maiden JORC Indicated Resource of 469 million tonnes within an Inferred and Indicated Resource of 749 million tonnes.
The first of NSL four tenements, EPCA 2198, has a previously established exploration target of between 500 million and 600 million tonnes of thermal coal. EPCA 2198 covers 232 square kilometres over 75 sub-blocks located 75 kilometres west of Augathella.
Independent geologists have also estimated a combined exploration target of between 6.6 billion and 18.7 billion tonnes of thermal coal for the four tenements, which cover 2,585 square kilometres.
NSL has been working with State Government to expedite the granting process and front end Native Title and land owner stakeholder discussions. Exploration and development of the thermal coal assets in Queensland is in addition to NSL development of an Indian iron ore productions business on schedule for first mining by first half of next year.
