The Australian reported that NEW Hope will close its New Oakleigh mine near Ipswich, Queensland early next year.

It said “The mine has now reached the end of its productive life.”

Production at the coal operation has declined in recent years, falling to just 350,000 tonnes in 2012

The company produced more than 4.8 million tonnes of saleable coal in the nine months to April, its most recent output figures show.
