It is reported that an iron ore mine on South Australia Eyre Peninsula has been approved by the state government, clearing the way for exports to China to begin next year.
IronClad Mining Wilcherry Hill iron ore project near Kimba passed the government final statutory hurdle on Friday. The company can now begin infrastructure work ahead of the first ore production in the first quarter of 2012.
Mr Ian Finch IronClad Mining executive chairman said the approval would transform the company from a small Australian exploration company into a global mining operation.
He said that "The Program for Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation has been an exhaustive process as it details the construction, commissioning, operation and eventual rehabilitation of the mine."
He added that "To say today is a significant milestone for the company is a massive understatement."
The Wilcherry Hill project is a joint venture between IronClad and Trafford Resources.
