Newcastle vessel queue stands at the year-to-date high
According to McCloskey, the vessel queue at Newcastle continues to rise, hitting a year to date high of 66, with estimated vessel waiting time of 25 days. This was due to heavy rain, shceduled maintenance work and rush by shippers to complete delivery obligations by end year.
The Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator forecasts the queue to ease to around 55 vessels by the end of December.
