
Nordic Iron Ore application for a mining concession regarding the mineral resources in the Haksberg field, Ludvika has been granted by the Swedish mine inspector. The decision is an important step in Nordic Iron Ore resuming the operations in Ludvika mines Blötberget and Haksberg and exploration of the intermediate Vasman field.
On December 15th 2011, the Swedish mine inspector, according to the mineral law granted Nordic Iron Ore a mining concession regarding the iron ore deposits in the Håksberg field in Ludvika. The mining concession permits extracting of iron, copper, gold and molybdenum during 25 years with an optional prolongation.
Mr Christer Lindqvist CEO of Nordic Iron Ore said “We’re pleased to have received this news. Our ambition is to meet a growing global demand for high concentrated iron ore products by reopening the Ludvika mines. With mining concessions for both Haksberg and Blötberget in place we are a step closer to our final goal.”
The Haksberg field contains 12 million tonne indicated and 25 inferred million tonne of mineral resources with an average grade of 36% iron.
In August 2011, Nordic Iron Ore was granted a mining concession for the mineral resources in Blötberget.
