
Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.1 million tonne in June, rising by 17.2% compared to May, according to the company's announcement. 13 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.
In the first half of the year, coking coal exports constituted 14 percent of total coal exports of 51 million tonnes from PWCS, with the overall volume up 8.7% compared to the same period last year.
According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in the first half of the year, with shipments constituting 54.2% of the total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 18.9% of the total.
