Patriot Coal Corporation announced that Mr Paul A Schnapp has been promoted to Vice President Commercial Services. In his new position Mr Schnapp will have responsibility for contract management, credit, forecasting and market research.

He will continue to report to Mr Robert W Bennett, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer. Reporting to Mr Schnapp will be Mr Carol A Damba, Director Contract Management and Credit, Mr James T Tom Dilley, Director Forecasting and Laws and Mr Willard S James II Senior Analyst Market Research.

Previously, Mr Schnapp served as Patriot Director of Market Research. Prior to joining Patriot he was a consultant involved in various domestic and international coal market projects, and held management positions in business development and market research at Peabody Energy, Arch Coal and Zeigler Coal.

Mr Schnapp holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University.
