Patriot Coal Corporation announced that Ms Jacquelyn A Jones has been promoted to Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

In her new position, Ms Jones will have legal oversight of securities and corporate compliance commercial and other company transactions and will have responsibility for corporate governance matters, working directly with the Company Board of Directors. In her new role, Ms Jones will report to Mr Joseph W Bean, Senior Vice President Law & Administration. Reporting to Ms Jones will be Mr Jeffrey R Tucker Senior Counsel and Ms Anne M Mykins Senior Paralegal.

Previously, Ms Jones served as Patriot Vice President of Contract Management and was responsible for managing the Company coal supply agreements reviewing and approving customer credit and forecasting the Company coal sales.

Ms Jones has also served as Vice President Tax for the Company and in 2008 she led the integration of Magnum into the Patriot organization. Before joining Patriot, Ms Jones was Director of Tax Planning and Audits for Peabody Energy Corporation. Ms Jones holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri and an LLM in Taxation from Washington University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
