Petrobras said that it had signed a preliminary agreement to build a calcined petroleum coke plant in Saudi Arabia together with a local firm there.
Petrobras and the Modern Mining Holding Company Limited would each provide half of the total investment, estimated at USD 450 million, to build the plant.
It is expected to come on stream in the second half of 2012. Petrobras will provide the green coke raw material for the plant, which will produce about 700,000 tonnes of calcined petroleum coke a year, the firm said in a statement.
