
Plan foresees new coal plants and extended life for nuclear facilities
Ukrainian Journal reported that a draft energy strategy for the period until 2030 being drawn up by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of foresees the construction of 11 to 17 gigawatt coal-consuming power plants.
Five gigawatt coal-consuming power plants will be built to replace units that are being shut down. In addition, Ukraine expects to build 6 11 gigawatt coal-consuming power plants to cover growing demand for electricity.
