Reuters reported that Massey Energy Company plans to reenter the Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia on June 2nd 2010 to access conditions almost 2 months after an explosion there killed 29 miners.

The company said that a group of 16, which will include company officials and individuals from the federal and state governments, will renter the mine to determine the quantity and quality of air underground.

The outcome should help show when additional visits might be possible, paving the way for an underground investigation into what happened on April 5th 2010 the day of the explosion.
