Ms Sheikh Hasina prime minister of Bangladesh directed the ministry concerned to post the draft coal policy on website to gather public opinion before finalizing it.

She said the draft coal policy need to be reviewed and analyzed further before arriving at an environment friendly coal policy that works best for the people. She said these after she was briefed on the proposed National Coal Policy through a PowerPoint presentation at the prime minister's office.

The PM said from the aspect of the country's electricity crisis, coal extraction is a necessity of time. The P said that “But at first, we have to ensure that people and environment do not suffer from any particular method of coal extraction.”
