
Xinhua reported that rescuers have reached four survivors of a coal mine flooding after nearly 60 hours' rescue efforts, and are still trying to locate eight missing.
Sources with the rescue commanding headquarters said that as of Friday 4:43 PM, two survivors have been lifted out of the coal mine in Hongtong County in north China's Shanxi Province, while two other survivors are awaiting to be pulled out.
The coal mine that belongs to Ji'anda Coal Mining Co Ltd of the Shanxi Luhe Coal Chemical Group was flooded around 4:17 AM Wednesday at a pit under construction.
Twenty two out of 34 people who were working underground at the time escaped from the flooded shaft, while the other 12 were trapped underground.
