AAP reported that Fortescue Metals Group Limited has again called on the federal government to clarify details of the proposed new mining tax.

Mr Andrew Forrest CEO of Fortescue said that he has offered PM Ms Julia Gillard an invitation to an open discussion regarding the planned mineral resources rent tax.

Fortescue said that in particular he hopes to discuss the MRRT's impact on Australia's reputation as an investment destination and the impact it will have on job creation. The invitation proposes discussions in any open forum acceptable to Ms Gillard.
