The Queensland Government said that it supports the basic design of the Federal Government's proposed Mineral Resource Rent Tax and does not have plans to increase mining royalties.

A spokeswoman for Premier Anna Bligh said that the agreement between the Federal Government and mining companies will help the industry to stay strong. But the state will reserve the right to determine appropriate royalties.
