It is reported that a roof fall at US coal miner Alpha Natural Resources' Emerald longwall mine has disabled the main conveyor line and shut down production.
Alpha said that no employees were in the area at the time of the roof fall and there were no injuries.
Mr Kurt Kost president of Alpha Natural said that "Employees are in the process of remedying the situation, and we anticipate normal production to resume in approximately two weeks. Since the Emerald mine has adequate coal inventory, we do not expect any disruptions to customer deliveries during the time it takes to repair the conveyor nor do we expect that this event will have a material impact on our financial results during the quarter."
