Express News Service reported that the Singareni Collieries Company Limited has engaged Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research, Mumbai to evaluate the impact of Coal mining-A Socio-economic study in Bellampalli region 3 months ago.

The aim of the workshop is to get a feedback on the actual benefits of the relief and rehabilitation schemes implemented and their impact and to devise need based scheme.

The lead coordinator Mr Venkat Reddy of Andhra University and Dr P Balachander of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore have collected the data in project area in Bellampalli region last month.

Currently, the pre project workshop is being organized at Bellampalli by Mr BS Reddy, IGIDR, Mr JV Dattatreyulu director (operations) and Mr DLR Prasad director (P and P) SCCL, NGOs and ITDA representatives, local revenue officials and stakeholders interacted.

It is expected that the comprehensive study will be useful in resolving the PDP issues in evolving a suitable R and R policy.
