
The Chennai based Shriram EPC is planning to expand its portfolio through its foray in coal to fuel gas conversion venture.
The probable investment for the conversion of coal to fuel gas will be INR 40 to INR 140 crore depending on the scope of the projects, for synthetic fuel the investment will be INR 300 to INR 400 crore. For coal gasification, the company has an agreement with Envirotherm GmbH, Germany which has technology to generate synthetic and fuel gas from the solid feed material.
Recently, Shriram EPC has entered into an EPC contract worth Rs.40 crore with Jindal Steel and Power to supply gas through coal gasification.
Besides, it is also exploring opportunities to expand its wind and biogas power generation business in Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam and the other South East Asian countries. The company has received the Letter of Intent for a 10 MW wind power project from a Thailand-based client and is in talks with more for similar deals.
