It is reported that after three months of intense construction, a six kilometre coal import channel at Takeshiken Port that links China and Mongolia has been completed by Mongolia Energy Corporation at the end of July. It would facilitate China's imports of coal and other mineral resources.
In April, Mongolia proposed to build a transport channel for coal trade for fear that coal transport vehicles between the two countries would damage the current trade channels. At the moment, Mongolia is identified as a great potential trade partner of China. Since Xinjiang annual coking coal gap reaches 1.6 million tonnes, the newly built coal channel paves the way for CTL, coal chemicals, coking and other industries through filling up the coal gap.
Raw coal imports through Takeshiken Port in Q1 have posed 5,000 tonnes.
